11 Questions with Jared
Jared Blake is one half of Brooklyn’s most innovative and cool design store, Lichen. Better known as the hub of all hangout spots in East Williamsburg, Lichen has that *thing* that draws in creative like minded individuals to come and hang out, talk design, and listen to their infamous playlists. Visiting the store is ever changing as their one of a kind pieces are quickly sold, and their showroom keeps you on your toes as it will never look the same twice. With a design internship program and a new larger location, you can still visit the OG little Lichen tucked away on the corner of Manhattan & Montrose. Jared’s warmth and inclusiveness created more than a design store, but a community that you can’t help but want to be a part of.
1. What ritual do you have for starting your day?
A nice cup of coffee and a hexagram from the I Ching book.
2. What music are you enjoying right now?
It's been a lot Jay Daniel this week, smooth energy to zone out to and focus. 3. What hair/skincare products have changed your life at this moment?
Shaving gel by Harry's and a beard oil by Bulldog, all smell goods!
4. What is your personal manifesto?
Keep going.
5. What scent invokes happiness for you?
Peppermint for sure, It smells like clean or holiday.
6. What is the best present you have either given or received?
A weekend in upstate NY, the rental was on a farm… It was amazing, goats are great!
7. What do you most look forward to?
Waking up each day to chase my dreams.

"Hotboxing with MIke Tyson" and "How I built this" by Guy Raz.
9. How do you nurture your self esteem?
Accepting my flaws, loving my flaws.

An Owl, Patient and Quiet.
11. What is the best season in New York, and why?
There's nothing like Fall in New York anywhere. Jacket & Hoodie season son.
